Trustee Treasurer Opportunity
Trustee Treasurer Opportunity
Citizens Advice Hart (CA Hart) are looking for a suitably qualified finance professional to join our Trustee Board to help us maximise the help we can provide to the people within the Hart area.
Whilst being an independent charity, CA Hart is a member of the national Citizens Advice organisation providing free, independent, impartial and confidential advice on a wide range of issues to the local community. We do so through a team of trained volunteers supported by a management team operating from offices in Fleet. In our last financial year, we helped in over 4,000 client cases, with nearly 9,000 issues. We also campaigned to change policies to help people in the future.
The role of the Treasurer is to support the Trustee Board in overseeing the financial affairs of CA Hart, ensuring its financial viability whilst complying with relevant financial regulations. No knowledge of Citizens Advice or the regulatory environment is required as a full induction programme will be provided. The role is supported by a Finance Manager who carries out all financial accounting as part of the service delivery team.
The Treasurer is a Trustee on the Board and as with all our Trustees this is a volunteer position.
Main Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Monitor the organisation’s income (c£400k per annum), expenditure and cash positions and in conjunction with the Finance Manager present accessible reports at least quarterly to ensure Board members understand the position,
- Assist in setting a financially realistic annual budget and business plan, with an appropriate reserves policy,
- Oversee the production of the annual accounts in accordance with required standards and liaise with the independent examiner / auditor, as required,
- Review and annually provide assurance to the Board on the accounting policies / procedures and key financial internal controls,
- Oversee banking relationships / accounts to ensure cash balances produce acceptable levels of return whilst being secure from a bank and internal control perspective,
- Support the CEO and Board on any ad hoc financial matters as appropriate.
About You
You will have a strong financial background, be able to present and explain financial matters clearly and succinctly based on sound analysis.
While a financial qualification is desirable, relevant experience is more important. Empathy with the types of issues faced by CA Hart’s clients is also important.
The role is voluntary. Board meetings are held 8 times a year. Estimated time commitment is two days per month.
Our volunteers come from a range of backgrounds as we welcome applications from all members of our community that have the attributes for the role.
If you would like to have an initial conversation about the role, please contact Roger Durdle.
If you are keen to apply please complete the Volunteer application form.
“The values of Citizens Advice align with my own personal values, specifically to continuously improve, promote equality and fairness and to work together. Having grown up within Hart and having immediate family here, it is important to me to support the community in the best way that I can.”
-Robbie, Trustee
