Radio Teleswitch Meters — and why they’re on their way out

Radio Teleswitch Meters – Switch Off – Act Now
Radio Teleswitch (RTS) Meters are energy meters that let electricity suppliers switch between different tariff rates using long wave radio frequencies. In some cases they can also directly control when the heating and hot water come on.
Those radio frequencies are due to be switched off later this year ( 30th June 2025) and all RTS meters will need to be replaced before they stop working properly to ensure your heating and hot water is operating correctly.
If you have an RTS meter you should have been contacted by your Energy Supplier with details on the next steps , we advise you to urgently contact your Energy Supplier for support in this change.
If you haven’t been contacted by your energy supplier you can check if you need to replace your meter.
You might have an RTS meter if:
  • your house is heated using electricity
  • you have electric storage and water heaters
  • you get cheaper energy at different times of day, for example if you have a peak and off-peak rate for electricity
Check out this video on how assess if you have an RTS meter How to identify if you have an RTS meter and what action you should take
If you think you may have an RTS meter contact your electricity supplier to check if your meter needs replacing.
