HR Trustee Opportunity
HR Trustee Opportunity
Citizens Advice Hart (CA Hart) is looking for a suitably qualified HR professional to join our Trustee Board to help us maximise the help we can provide to the people within the Hart area. This is a voluntary role.
Whilst being an independent charity, CA Hart is a member of the national Citizens Advice organisation providing free, independent, impartial and confidential advice on a wide range of issues to the local community. We do so through a team of trained volunteers supported by a management team operating from offices in Fleet. In our last financial year, we helped in over 4,000 client cases, with nearly 9,000 issues. We also campaigned to change policies to help people in the future.
The Trustee Board’s focus is strategy and business planning, governance, compliance and providing support to the Chief Executive Officer. In addition, the role of the HR Lead Trustee is to
- Provide a specialist resource for advice and opinion to the Board and Chief Executive Officer when required.
- Ensure the charity has appropriate people policies in place considering current legislation and best practice.
- Support and advise the Chief Executive Officer with key people related decisions around recruitment, dismissal and disciplinary processes.
- Responsible for the recruitment of new trustees to the board.
Why volunteer for us?
We are looking to appoint people who have the capacity to make a significant contribution: you may have decided that you would like to volunteer and make a difference to those in need.
Citizens Advice is there to help people whenever they need it, to campaign on issues that need changing and to champion equality. By joining us you will play a vital part in delivering a much-valued service across Hart District. Your skills can help make a difference to those in need.
Skills
The best Boards are made up of a wide variety of motivated people, all of whom share a common interest in a charity’s services and success. The ideal person will bring innovative ideas, enthusiasm and excellent judgement to help lead the organisation. Understanding of, and empathy with, the types of issues faced by Hart CA’s clients is also important.
Our volunteers come from a range of backgrounds as we welcome applications from all members of our community that have the attributes for the role.
You would need to be able to commit to attending trustee board meetings which are held 8 times a year. Estimated time commitment is 7-10 hours per month.
How will we support you?
