The start of a new school year can be a busy and stressful time. It’s important to check what support you’re entitled to. If you’re on a low income, you might be able to get help with some of the costs of sending your child to school, including school meals, transport and uniform. Your child will automatically get free school meals if they’re in reception class or year 1 or 2. If your child is in year 3 or above, you can apply for free school meals if you get certain benefits or asylum support.
Check the national Citizens Advice website to see how you can get help with school costs.
