BT has announced the switch to its new digital home phone service, Digital Voice.
Between now and 2025 most telephone providers will be moving their customers from older analogue landlines over to new upgraded landline services using digital technology – this is collectively known as ‘the digital switchover’ and Digital Voice is BT’s initiative as part of the switchover.
If you are a BT customer, you will be contacted directly by them by e-mail or letter, outlining what you will have to do to make the change and when it is required to happen.
The new service works in a different way to the older “landline” service, and before switching service it is advised to check the BT website for details to ensure you are prepared for the change or request BT for assistance in the change, they can be contacted at:
or on 0800 800 150 for advice.
It is especially worth contacting BT to inform them if you fall into one of the categories below, and ask for assistance with the proposed change to ensure that your service will continue after any change:
- Customers with a healthcare pendant or other alarms
- Customers who are over 70
- Customers who only use landlines / don’t already have broadband
- Customers with no mobile signal
- Customers who have disclosed any additional needs to BT previously
It is planned to change the service for our area in 2024, and to support that BT are running Engagement Events for customers in the South East in March , for customers that are interested, location details of those events are as follows: Digital Voice Events | Digital Home Phone | BT
