Electricity and gas distribution network companies are responsible for maintaining, operating, and upgrading the infrastructure that delivers electricity and gas to homes and businesses across Great Britain. Ofgem regulates their activities and sets Guaranteed Standards of Performance to define the minimum level of service that customers should expect. When distribution companies fail to meet these standards and provide the expected services, they must compensate affected customers promptly. Ofgem sets the levels of compensation, with some differences for domestic and non-domestic customers.
Our latest report reviews the performance of network operators. We’ve shared our findings and recommendations in our blog and looked at what has changed since our previous report.
