We’re supporting an important government campaign encouraging everyone to check their State Pension age using the free calculator on GOV.UK.
Why it matters
Between April 2026 and March 2028, the State Pension age is gradually increasing from 66 to 67. If you were born on or after 6 April 1960, this change could affect you.
Check your age in minutes
The free State Pension age calculator on GOV.UK tells you your exact State Pension age. All you need is your date of birth. While you’re there, you can also use the ‘Check your State Pension forecast’ tool to see how much State Pension you’re on track to get, and whether there’s anything you can do to increase it, for example by filling gaps in your National Insurance record.
It doesn’t start automatically
It’s also worth knowing that your State Pension doesn’t start automatically. The Pension Service will write to you around four months before you reach State Pension age, inviting you to apply.
