Citizens Advice Hart is a member of the Citizens Advice network and is a local, independent charity offering free, impartial, confidential advice in the community.
Citizens Advice was launched in Fleet in 1969. Citizens Advice opened in Yateley in 1982 in portacabins with no running water and later moved into a purpose-built office in Royal Oak Close in 1997. Since then the advice service has seen thousands of residents seek advice to help resolve their issues. The Fleet and Yateley bureaux merged in 2006 to form Citizens Advice Hart.
After nearly 40 years in Yateley, the Citizens Advice Hart Yateley office is closing on 31 March 2022. Citizens Advice Hart will continue to operate their service in Fleet with increased office space in the Civic Offices, Harlington Way.
Oakley Health Group will be moving into the Citizens Advice building in Yateley to develop a centre for health and wellbeing. Citizens Advice Hart is delighted to announce that a number of advisers will retain a presence in the building with Oakley Health Group, providing advice and continuing to see clients there.
Jennie Taylor from the Oakley Health Group/Yateley PCN shared the plan, “We are working together with Hart District Council and other local organisations, including Citizens Advice Hart, to improve Mental Health and Wellbeing services locally and more information will be available soon.”
Sam Mabbott, Chief Officer of Citizens Advice Hart commented, “Whilst we are sad to leave the Yateley office as a team, we are looking forward to working closely with Oakley Health Group. We see this move as an opportunity to serve the community in a more practical and accessible way. We are focusing on creating outreach venues in Yateley and indeed across Hart. Residents will be able to see advisers at various locations such as the Yateley Community Pantry, surgeries and various community venues. We will be where people need us most, in the heart of our community.”
Citizens Advice Hart is needed more than ever given the cost of living and energy crisis. Millions of people are being plunged into poverty and soaring bills are forcing many to choose between eating and heating. Citizens Advice Hart can provide advice on debt, benefits, housing, employment, consumer and relationship issues and provide access to financial support for those who need it. As a charity, Citizens Advice Hart is looking for support in the way of donations and for volunteers to join their advice team and help people in the community to find a way forward.
