The Forces Families Project
Forces Families (formerly Joining Forces for Families) is an Armed Forces Covenant funded project established in October 2018. It is delivered in partnership by Citizens Advice Hart and Portsmouth Citizens Advice.
The project aims to support serving personnel and their families through life’s stressful events. This support is free, confidential, independent, and impartial. The Forces Families Project works on a tri-service basis. It operates in North East Hampshire and Portsmouth, as well as other south-coast areas, including Gosport, Fareham, and Havant. We often attend military events, such as health fairs, family fun days, and, of course, Armed Forces Day.
The service operates through a referral process. An individual or family can refer themselves or agreed to be referred by one of our partner organisations. These include welfare teams, military charities, schools’ pastoral teams, or social prescribing teams.
We have extended the service to international families and also focus on financial capability and money management activities. We have also added a video advice option to our services, allowing clients to experience a ‘near normal’ advice session.
The Forces Families Project team consists of three advisers, a project manager, and a communications officer. We are usually fully mobile around North East Hampshire and the South Coast.
